The Ted Reese Memorial Scholarship committee is proud to announce two recipients of this year’s scholarship award. Two strong candidates impressed the committee and will be awarded with a $2000 scholarship. These graduating Bonny Eagle wrestlers embody the qualities of excellence on the mat, in the classroom, in leadership, and in character in keeping with the legacy of Coach Reese.
Gregory Brunk showed tremendous improvement throughout his high school wrestling career. After a late start as a sophomore in high school, Gregory experienced a good deal of adversity. However, he demonstrated determination and resilience and committed himself to improving. As a senior he enjoyed a great deal of success and ended up placing 3rd in the state championship tournament. Gregory excels in the classroom as well and carries over a 4.0 grade point average. Gregory has been active in community service through his church and youth group. Gregory will continue his wrestling career as a member of Maine Maritime Academy’s newly established varsity program.
Kaden Cyr accomplished a great deal on the mat during his high school career. He finishes his high school wrestling career with over 100 wins and as a Maine State Champion. In addition to wrestling, Kaden was also a member of the Bonny Eagle soccer team. On the wrestling team, Kaden’s leadership qualities made him a two time captain of the team. Kaden’s commitment to giving back is evident through a plethora of community service hours and his dedication to helping youth and middle school
wrestling programs throughout his high school career. Kaden plans to continue to be involved in coaching at Bonny Eagle in the middle school program or whatever is needed. In the classroom, Kaden earned a 3.68 grade point average. We wish him the best at Southern Maine Community College.
